MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL Cancels May 14th and 15th Performances Due to Covid Within Cast  Image

Today and tomorrow's performances of Broadway's smash hit Moulin Rouge! The Musical have been cancelled. An Instagram story post from the show's official account broke the news. The notice reads, "Due to positive COVID cases in the company, performances today and tomorrow of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway are cancelled."

It continues, "The show is expected to resume on Tuesday, May 17th at 7pm at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 W. 45th Street). Ticket holders for the cancelled performances will be contacted by their point of purchase. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

This past Tuesday, May 10th, Derek Klena, Ashley Loren, Caleb Marshall-Villarreal, and Declan Bennett stepped into the show. Ashley Loren plays Satine, having played over 100 performances in the role as the Satine Alternate since Moulin Rouge! The Musical opened in the Summer of 2019. Derek Klena, most recently nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Jagged Little Pill, plays Christian. Declan Bennett, who previously appeared on Broadway in Rent and American Idiot, plays The Duke of Monroth. Original Moulin Rouge! The Musical cast member Caleb Marshall-Villarreal now plays Santiago. Natalie Mendoza, Tony Award winner Aaron Tveit, Tam Mutu, and Ricky Rojas played their final performance on Sunday, May 8th. Read the full story here.
